 In the MTS Service Area, there are over 1,700 people awaiting a transplant. Our mission is to encourage everyone to become a donor to help maximize the availability of vital organs, tissues, and corneas for transplantation within our service area. Some organs may be transplanted from a living donor, but the majority of organ and tissue transplants are dependent upon the generosity of families who donate the organs of their deceased loved ones. We simply need more caring and concerned individuals, and their families, to donate their organs when they pass on, thereby saving the life of another person. Experts suggest that each donor could affect the lives of up to 50 individuals through his/her tissue donation and save the lives of up to seven people through donating his/her vital organs. |
